Being a referee is one of the hardest jobs in football, every decision you make is analysed and may be criticized by managers, players, media, and fans. However, how much do referees earn for their troubles?

How much do referees in the Premier League earn?

Some of the Premier Leagues' prominent referees have gone as far as to officiating the World Cup or  European Championships, with Howard Webb becoming the first to officiate both events in the same year. 
       Depending on the level, referees can earn a little or a lot depending on the local football association. For Amateur referees in the UK, pay is usually between £20 ($26.17) and £40 ($52.34) per game.
While semi-professional referees are paid around £80 ($104.69) per game and as well as the mileage they have to travel to the game venue.
          Referees at the top of the English football pyramid get paid a regular wage with match fees, and they can earn as much as £70,000 ($91,584.85) per year. They are paid a yearly retainer between £38,500 ($50,378.21) and £42,000 ($54,950.91) based on experience with £1,150 ($1,504.61)per match.

How much do referees earn in other leagues?



Different from England, where referees are paid a yearly retainer and then per-match, the referees in other leagues are just paid on a game-by-game basis.
Games in the La Liga league pays the highest to referees, they can earn as much as £5,200 ($6,805) per game

Champions League referees' salaries depend on their level of experience, and senior officials can be paid over £5,500 ($7,198.12) per game.
