Juventus and Portuguese forward asked Ajax and Dutch defender if he would join Juventus. Mathhijs de Ligt revealed Cristiano Ronaldo asked him to join him in Italy next season after Netherland's defeat to Portugal during the Nations League Final.
The 19 year-old defender is expected to move from Ajax this season with PSG or Barcelona being the main target. However, Ronaldo was seen talking to the Ajax defender after their match on Sunday, when asked whether the Juventus forward questioned if he would be his team-mate, De Ligt said:
"That could be true, yes. I didn't understand him at first. I was a little shocked, so I laughed, but I didn't say anything. Shortly after the game you are not at all concerned with it, you are disappointed you have lost and that is the only thing you are thinking about."
De Ligt had an amazing season with Ajax 2018/19, they were defeated by Tottenham in the semi-final of the Champions League, but they were able to defeat former Champions- Real Madrid and Juventus along the way.
The 19-year-old defender has put a stellar performance during his 117 senior appearances for Ajax and received the Golden Boy award in 2018, with all this, De Ligt's performance must have made an impression on Juventus star- Ronaldo to ask him to be his team-mate.
