Racism as we all know it can happen in anyplace- work, schools and even on a football pitch. We, Sportified News, compile moments in football where players have experienced some sort of discrimination against the color of their skin, race, religious beliefs, or country of origin.
Mesut Ozil
The Gunner midfielder chose to retire from international football during the 2018 World Cup in Russia after he was criticized by German fans for his World Cup performance. Ozil is a German player with Turkish roots and his integrity was questioned when he was seen taking pictures with the Turkish president during the event of the World Cup. The 30-year-old player said he received hate mails and threats.
"I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose," -Ozil.
In a lengthy statement posted on his twitter, Ozil said he no longer wears the German national shirt with pride and he does not feel accepted in German society despite all his efforts and achievements in the country.

Dani Alves
In a 2014 match against Villarreal, Barcelona's center-back, Dani Alves was about to take a corner-kick until a fan from the opposition threw a banana at him. Alves reacted by picking up the banana and eating it.
Later, Villarreal was fined about $15,000 for the incident by the Spanish Football Federation. This sparked a movement against racism on social platforms with other celebrities and football players reacting by eating a banana and sharing it online.
The fan was identified two days later. David Campaya Lleo was given a lifetime ban and had his ticket torn up.
Mario Balotelli
In April 2009, Mario Balotelli, an Italian player of Ghanian descent was racially abused by Juventus fans and they received a one-game home ban. Also, during the UEFA Euro 2012 match against Spain, Balotelli was also a victim of racism while playing for the Italian national team; the opposing fans made monkey chants towards the Italian striker.
Moise Kean
In April 2019. Juventus forward was subject to racism by Cagliari fans. After scoring an incredible goal against the opposing fans began to make racist chants. His team, Leonardo Bonucci, and manger partial blamed him for the fans' response.

After the goal, the youngster celebrated by stretching his arms outwards and stood motionless.
Patrice Evra
Former Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez was accused of racially abusing Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra. The South American striker has used the word "negrito" which in Spanish means "little black man". Suarez claimed he has used the word as a form of endearment towards the defender but The FA later found Suarez guilty and charged him £40,000.
